Dear Hollie,
Due to 8 landslides reported in the Ashcroft, Yale and Squamish subdivisions in the recent days all rail service is suspended from Edmonton to Vancouver. With rain in the forecast, concerns about the stability of the area as well as the safety of crews and goods remain. We have geotechnologists in the area monitoring the situation along with crews and equipment diverting water as needed.
At this time, our earliest estimate is that the track may be passable Thursday at 19:00 PST, but this could change depending on conditions. Once the track is passible we do expect delays due to the backlog of traffic. Crews are being positioned in the area to bring the network back to normal operations as quickly as possible.
We are actively monitoring the situation and will communicate updates to you as the situation evolves.
Please reach out to your Service Delivery Representative regarding any questions you may have about this temporary service suspension.
Thank you and, as always, we appreciate your business.
